The unique history of Angela Cummings
Born in Klagenfurt, Austria in 1944, Angela Cummings spent her formative years in the United States, returning to Europe to study art in Italy. She graduated with a degree in goldsmithing in 1967 from Zeichenakademie in Hanau, West Germany, and soon began to make waves in the jewelry-making world.
Cummings moved to New York City in 1968 and began her career under the watchful eye of a Tiffany & Co. artisan. She eventually launched her own collection for the legendary jewelry house in 1975, with early designs featuring 18k gold and precious gemstones like lapis lazuli, coral and opal. Her creations reflected her love of the beauty of nature, and one of her most sought-after styles is a leaflike gold rose petal earring and necklace set.
While she continued to work with Tiffany, Cummings opened boutiques in her own name. Throughout her career, she found new creative freedom, designing functional items like tableware and leather accessories. She also experimented with other materials in her jewelry-making, like diamonds and sterling silver.
Cummings retired and closed her business in 2003 but was lured back into jewelry-making through a collaboration with the pearl specialists at Assael. Her jewelry continues to garner acclaim from customers and critics alike and is highly prized with high values to match.
Sell your Angela Cummings jewelry
If you’re considering selling your Angela Cummings jewelry, keep in mind that every piece has significant value. From simple pieces to hard-to-find rarities, you get a great price for your jewelry when you sell it to The Diamond Oak. In addition to considering the rarity of each piece, we also use the following criteria to determine the value of your pieces:
- Condition: Condition is everything when it comes to the value of fine jewelry. We’ll take an objective look at your pieces and assess them according to their condition. The better the condition, the higher the price your pieces will command.
- Iconic Designs: If you happen to possess some of the truly iconic Angela Cummings designs, such as her enameled earrings or hinged bracelets, crafted from exquisite materials like gold and mother of pearl, characterized by their organic shapes and elegant curves, you're in possession of truly valuable and sought-after pieces.
- Provenance: The history of a piece is another important factor that affects its overall value. Items like original receipts, boxes, invoices, jewelry bags and other material help verify the authenticity of an item and can increase the value of an item by approximately 5-15%. The more materials you have, the better the price you’ll get for your jewelry. That being said, we realize it is not always possible to keep the original papers, and regularly purchase Angela Cummings jewelry without original supporting materials.
If you accept our offer, you’re paid two to three days from the day you ship. In most cases, you’ll get paid the same day your package arrives at The Diamond Oak. It’s never been quicker or easier to turn unwanted or unneeded jewelry into cash.
